About the show
Springtime Novelettes is an unusual recital comprised of diverse pieces from classical and neoclassical ballet. In it you will experience the explosive joy of European character dances, take a journey through an enchanted forest, meet characters from classical ballet, and see demonstrations of the training that informs the art of ballet storytelling.

Professional dancers will join Bayer Ballet's youth company and students in this two part ballet show-case with two performances (1 PM and 4 PM) on June 12th, 2011 at the beautiful Menlo-Atherton Center for the Performing Arts. http://www.thecenteratma.org/

Our program includes variations from La Bayadère (The Temple Dancer), Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Paquita, The Talisman, La fille mal gardée, Sylvia (ou La nymphe de Diane), and more, as well as lively folk-inspired Russian and Moldavian (character) dances. Children will especially enjoy Little Red Riding Hood, an original mini-story ballet with an unusual retelling of this classic fairy tale.

The world of ballet is diverse and capacious with room for both children's dreams and adult inspiration alike. Share our world and learn some of the secrets -- large and small - of creating an experience of the fantastic …. classical ballet style!
